I'm really starving for some dinner, but I'll try my best.

This is an example of a legal bit torrent site, and it features many many recordings from our favorite band: http://bt.etree.org/

Browing that list may make your mouth water and your logical response will be, how the fuck do I get these golden nuggets of musical joy?

Well, what you need to do is to download a program that can download torrents... I would reccomend http://www.utorrent.com/

Once you have installed this program, all you need to do is simply go to a page dedicated to a specific torrent, such as:http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=530409

Now, just click on the link to download the torrent. Once you do, your torrent program that you just installed should automatically detect this file (actually, you may have to direct the program to find the torrent in the folder to which you downloaded it, but afterwards it will be automatic).

And voila, your download should begin!

Have fun!

I use utorrent and if I can do it, so can a 4 year old. Also, trader's little helper is good for simple click and drag conversion between formats.
